CMP Media sponsored a conference on the future of technology and it’s impact on the economy. Participants discussed how the initial telecommunications revolution excitement quieted down as companies settled down to market realities and struggled through severe competition. They also examined the global dimensions of the convergence between various media forms, including computer, cable television and telephone companies and attempted to predict the industry’s near future. Denis Gilhooly of Communications Week International moderated the panel which included Federal Communications chairman Reed Hundt, as well as international industry leaders and regulators. close
