Professor Pastor, executive director of the the Carter-Baker Commission on Federal Election Reform, talked about the state of election reform. Following his remarks, panelists addressed the status of implementation of the September 19, 2005, recommendations by the commission. Among the topics they addressed were election practices at the state and local level, preparations for the 2008 general election, and various allegations of illegal actions by voters and officials. Jack Nelson was the moderator of the panel titled “Problems that Remain: Election Reform Delayed.” The panelists also responded to questions from members of the audience. close
