David Prentice and Professor Teitelbaum debated the federal stem cell policy, including the bill the House passed during the week to expand federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. A point of controversy is the destruction of frozen human embryos. It was the third bill that Democrats put on the agenda to pass in their first “hundred hours” of leadership. The Senate has not set its date for taking up the legislation, but President Bush has threatened a veto. The guests responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
