Hundreds gathered to pay their last respects to the Arkansas politician and statesman who died at the age of 89. Senator Fulbright began nearly 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate in 1945. After retiring in 1974, he was an attorney in private practice. Senator Fulbright was chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Also, the Fulbright Scholarship Program was named after him.
