The National Press Club honored Kathy George of Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Aliza Marcus of Reuters for their recent work in which they stood firmly for freedom of the press. Then, Mike Wallace spoke about CBS' decision to not run a story on “60 Minutes” about tobacco products in October 1995 and then to air a modified version in January 1996. He used this as an example of the issue over corporate interests versus the public’s right to information. After his remarks, he took questions from the audience. close
