Pierre Vimont, French Ambassador to the U.S., talked about France’s role in resolving the conflict between Russia and Georgia, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. On Wednesday, French officials were working with other members of the European Union to support the accord brokered by Russia. French officials are also working to see that monitors be dispatched to the Caucasus to ensure that the truce is upheld.
