Senate Homeland Security Chair Joe Lieberman (I-CT) talked about U.S. foreign policy with Senator Kelly Ayotte. He criticized the Obama administration for not engaging in Syria and said the attack on the U.S. consulate in Beghazi, Libya, could have been avoided if the U.S. had a larger presence in the country. Senator Lieberman, who was retiring, also reflected on U.S. foreign policy during his 24-year tenure in Congress, and discussed Iran and cyber security. At the end of the program, he answered questions from audience members.
“Reflections and Projections: The Past and Future of Foreign Policy in the Senate” was a session of the forum “The Price of Greatness: The Next Four Years of Foreign Policy,” held at the Newseum.
