Stephan Faris talked about his book Forecast: The Consequences of Climate Change, from the Amazon to the Arctic, from Darfur to Napa Valley (Henry Holt and Co.; December 23, 2008). In his book Mr. Faris focuses on the direct effects of climate change on the lives of individuals, including its contribution to a rising cost of living, an increase in immigration, and changing tastes of foods. At this event he talked with Warren Hoge about on how climate change intensifies conflict and how the conflict in Darfur is an early example. He also responded to questions from members of the audience.

Warren Hoge moderated the event “Climate Change and Conflict,” which was part of “Beyond the Headlines,” a series of evening receptions hosted by the International Peace Institute for experts from Permanent Missions to the UN and other members of the UN community.
