Vali Nasr, senior advisor to Richard Holbrooke, special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, talked about his latest book which looks at the growth of the Muslim middle class in the Middle East.  Mr. Nasr argues that this rising middle class, which puts a high value on economic success, will pave the way for a freer, more prosperous Middle East in which religious extremists do not thrive.  He spoke at the Woman’s National Democratic Club in Washington, DC.
