Surgeon General Richard Carmona briefed reporter on the importance of vaccination in public health as part of a panel hosted by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. Officials from the American Academy of Pediatrics, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Sciences, spoke to the outlook for the upcoming flu season, including who should be vaccinated, when vaccinations should be given, and how much vaccine will be available. Associate Director of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, David Neumann, introduced the panel. close
