Mr. Rosenzweig moderated a panel discussion of “Secure Flight,” a new program announced by the Transportation Security Administration. The program aims to screen airline passengers to improve security. Mr. Oberman spoke about the process of developing the program and its role as part of a “layered” approach to airline security. He described the program as “a system that vets the names of everybody who boards a flight in the U.S. against the government-wide, consolidated watch list of known or suspected terrorists.” By identifying those on the watch list before boarding, the program allows security personnel to prevent the person from boarding or subject them to further screening. He described the testing phase of the program. Ms. Dean joined Mr. Oberman, and they responded to audience questions and comments. close
