Witnesses testified about federal efforts to control wildfires in the West and South. Among the issues they addressed were on-going efforts to fight fires, different methods available to fight forest fires, and the damage caused by forest fires. These hearings were held, in part, in response to fires that threatened Los Alamos National Laboratories following an attempt to set a controlled blaze to counteract a wildfire. close
