Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered the keynote address at the 2006 conference of the Opportunity Finance Network. The conference addressed the challenges and opportunities of bringing people living on the economic margins of the nation into the economic mainstream while opening emerging domestic markets to the financial mainstream. Mr. Bernanke recommended that consumers sharpen their skills in shopping for mortgages and investment products. He said that building economically healthy communities requires making sure that every American has a chance to improve his economic standing through hard work, saving, and other activities. close
