The Senate Rules and Administration Committee held a hearing on campaign finance law, the first congressional hearing since the U.S. Supreme Court ruling earlier in the month that struck down aggregate limits on campaign contributions in April. Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, a critic of the court’s decision, made an opening statement and left without answering questions. Other witnesses included Ann Ravel of the Federal Election Commission. close
