Felix Rohatyn talked about his book Bold Endeavors: How Our Government Built America, and Why It Must Rebuild Now (Simon and Schuster; February 24, 2009). In his book, the former U.S. ambassador to France examines 10 moments in American history when a presidential decision is said to have transformed the nation. He also discussed the Obama administration and its potentially transformative budget proposal. The guest interviewer was Gregory Ip.

Felix Rohatyn, a frequent contributor to The New York Review of Books, was a managing director at the investment banking firm Lazard Freres and Co. LLC and served as the U.S. ambassador to France from 1997 to 2000. From 1975 to 1993, Mr. Rohatyn was chairman of the Municipal Assistance Corporation of the State of New York, where he managed the negotiations that enabled New York City to resolve its financial crisis. close
