The President’s Advisory Panel on Federal Tax Reform held its second public meeting to hear perspectives on tax reform and descriptions of the problems presented by complexity in the tax system. Commissioner Everson presented a view of the U.S. Tax Code from the perspective of the tax administrator and explained how the Internal Revenue Service copes with the tax code. After his presentation he answered panel members' questions. Mr. Slemrod and Ms. Olson talked about the impact of U.S. Tax Code complexity on taxpayers. Mr. Burman and Ms. Hill talked about the alternative minimum tax. All panelists answered questions from advisory panel members. close
