Secretary of Defense Robert Gates hosted a ceremony honoring the 60th anniversary of the signing of Executive Orders 9980 and 9981 integrating the armed forces and the federal civil service. The ceremony included a Presentation of the Colors, the national anthem, an invocation, and a video of remarks by Army General William Ward from Stuttgart, Germany.
