Last week, President Bush sought to break the deadlock over unconfirmed nominations to the Federal Election Commission. The proposal was opposed by Democrats who say the President is abandoning a reportedly non-partisan nominee in favor of a party loyalist. Currently, there are only 2 commissioners serving on the 6-member board.
