Professor Sara Marcketti talked about the creation of the Fashion Originators Guild of America in the 1930s, and why why fashion is not given copyright protections. The Fashion Originators Guild of America was an attempt to protect and register original fashion. Despite its popularity, the guild faced backlash from merchants and in the 1940s faced federal sanctions for monopolistic practices. This class was from a course called “History of European and North American Dress.” close
