Attorney General Eric Holder announced a $335 million settlement with Countrywide over claims of discriminatory lending practices, the largest fair lending settlement in U.S. history. Countrywide is now owned by Bank of America.m He was joined by Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Thomas Perez, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California André Birotte Jr., Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, and Governor Sarah Bloom Raskin of the Federal Reserve. close
