Utilizing several sources, including documents recently made available through the Freedom of Information Act, Mr. Guttenplan presents new insights on the columnist whose reportage spanned from the Great Depression to the Vietnam War. Mr. Stone, who wrote for The Nation, PM, and I.F. Stone's Weekly, was often labeled an iconoclast who was tracked by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during his career.
