Mr. Silverman talked about his book, Lightning Man: The Accursed Life of Samuel F.B. Morse, published by Knopf. The book is a biography of nineteenth-century inventor Samuel F.B. Morse, who is best known for inventing the telegraph. Mr. Silverman talked about Morse’s life, family, and accomplishments. In addition to being an inventor, Morse was also a painter, professor, politician, and photographer. He considered his life “accursed” because he felt that each achievement brought him trouble.
