Prison camps researcher for the U.S. Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, David Hawk, spoke about North Korean prison camps. He said that many prisoners were forced to labor under dangerous and inhospitable conditions, and lived in camps where food was scarce and torture and killings were common. Kim Young, the first person to escape from a North Korean political prison camp, spoke through an interpreter about his experiences and the situation in North Korea. Thomas Cochran of the Natural Resources Defense Council discussed the use of satellite technology to identify and document human rights abuses.
