Liz Abzug talked about her late mother, New York Congresswoman Bella Abzug, at a celebration of the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment as well as the 1977 Women’s Conference in Houston. The amendment granting women the right to vote was certified on August 26, 1920. In 1971, Representative Abzug had August 26th declared as Women’s Equality Day. She also authored the bill that funded the 1977 National Women’s Conference, over which she presided. Ms. Abzug talked about her mother’s life and career and the status of women’s rights. She also responded to questions from members of the audience.

The address, “Women, Power, Politics and Leadership” Isn’t It Time We Achieve Our Equal Share of Seats at the Table," was held August 25, 2010, at the Women’s Museum in Dallas. close
