Keith Hennessey, assistant to the president for economic policy and director of the National Economic Council, spoke about environmental leadership. Among the issues he addressed were federal regulation of the environment and emissions standards, energy industry practices, technological innovations to improve safety and energy efficiency, and alternative fuel use. 

The “Newsweek Conference on Environmental Leadership” was co-sponsored by Science, Technology, and International Affairs Program of the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Georgetown University Center on the Environment.
