Witnesses testified on the impact of energy companies searching for sources in more stable areas and countries such as Canada. Much of the hearing focused on the Keystone XL proposal delay. One energy expert who testified said the U.S. cannot afford not to capitalize on Canada’s oil sands from an economic and energy standpoint. Republicans agreed while Democratic members noted the lack of guarantee that the oil would solely be for U.S. consumption. close
