President Bush held an end-of-the-year news conference. Topics included the swearing-in of a new Defense Secretary, the possibility of sending more U.S. military troops to Iraq, and the continuing growth of the U.S. economy. He said, “2006 was a difficult year for our troops and the Iraqi people.” He responded to reporters' questions on a variety of topics.
