The Columbia Institute sponsored a day-long forum to preview the issues to be addressed in the "Earth Summit," scheduled to be held in Brazil in June 1992. The "Earth Summit" will bring together world leaders to discuss global environmental concerns, including global warming and international environmental treaties. In the panel discussion entitled, "The Economics of Emission Reduction," business scholars and environmental analysts discussed the tradeoffs between tighter environmental standards and economic concerns for industrialized countries.
