Public school teachers testified on the possible re-authorization of the No Child Left Behind Act. The majority of witnesses agreed that there had been positive outcomes from higher student and teacher expectations as well as greater autonomy for school administrators and a stronger focus on low-performing schools. Some of the panelists argued that the bill included too much federal intervention, providing a “one size fits all approach” to classrooms that vary widely.
