German Election Debate
General elections in Germany are September 18, 2005, and most polls show Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder’s Social Democrats losing to a coalition led by Opposition leader Angela Merkel. If she wins, Ms. Merkel would be the first woman Chancellor in German history, and the first from East Germany.
