Following the demise of the Democratic congressional majority, the Democratic Leadership Council and the Progressive Policy Institute announced their “progressive alternative to the Republican Contract.” The 10 points, include such ideas as a “new G.I. Bill for American workers” to help workers train for the changing economy and ways to cut government spending in certain areas while increasing spending in innovative and more productive sectors.
