A re-enactment was made of the inaugural train trip of President-Elect Abraham Lincoln from Springfield, Illinois, to Washington, D.C. Mr. Lincoln was portrayed by Fritz Klein in this 150th anniversary event sponsored by the National Parks Service.

President-Elect Abraham Lincoln stopped at Independence Hall in Philadelphia on the morning of February 22, 1861, and delivered a dramatic speech about upholding the principals on which the nation was founded and to raise a 34-star flag to honor the newest state admitted to the union, Kansas. close
