Committee members heard testimony from government officials, industy association representatives, and policy analysts on the provisions of the Senior Citizens Equity Act, part of the Republicans' “Contract with America.” Part of that legislation would raise the earnings limit to 30,000 dollars. Currently social security recipients begin to loose part of their benefits when they earn more than 11,200 dollars per year. close
