Panelists examined the effects of U.S. domestic political discord on foreign policy strength and overall standing abroad. Much of the discussion focused on on recent debt ceiling negotiations, deficit reduction, and political unrest in both Libya and Syria. They also talked about presidential and congressional leadership, partisan politics, and the potential impact of the 2012 election campaign on U.S. foreign policy.
