MADD representatives and others briefed reporters on the group’s latest evaluation of states' efforts to reduce the incidence of drunk driving. Overall, they announced that drunk driving fatalities increased for the first time since 1986 and gave the nation a grade of C, down from a B- in the 1993 survey. They stressed that this trend must be reversed through measures such as lowering the legally impaired limit to 0.08 percent blood alcohol level. A father and daughter from Maryland also talked about the loss of a daughter and sister in an accident caused by a drunk driver. close
