Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified in the second day of a series of hearings held on a draft proposal for health care reform. She focused on the rising costs of health care for consumers and the cost to the federal government of enacting reforms. She noted that in the absence of reform spending on health care would rise from $2.4 to $4.4 trillion by 2018. She also said that President Obama was willing to listen to various suggestions on how to pay for a health care overhaul, as long as they don’t increase the deficit. close
