The 150th anniversary observance of the Lincoln-Douglas Debates included a re-enactment of Abraham Lincoln’s famous “House Divided Speech” in the same room he gave it to the Illinois Republican Convention after the June 16, 1858, announcement that Lincoln would be the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, running against Democrat incumbent Senator Stephen Douglas.

During this presentation of the speech, responses by Senator Douglas were interpolated, as well as historical comments by Professor Winger. close
