Brian Charlton of the Donora Smog Museum talked about the origin of the 1948 Donora air quality crisis and how it led to changing perceptions of air pollution and industrialization. Over a three day period in October of 1948 hundreds of people became sick and 21 died from a mysterious smog that had enveloped the town of Donora, Pennsylvania. The Senator John Heinz History Center hosted this event. close
