Reporters in Washington were given a tour inside the U.S. Capitol dome which was undergoing a complete restoration. The cast iron outer shell of the dome had more than 1000 cracks caused by aging and weather. Kevin Hildebrand from the U.S. Capitol’s Office of the Architect explained the restoration process and gave reporters an inside look at how the dome was built over the original dome that sat on top of the Capitol building. close
