Adam Hochschild talked about the role of the public historian. He is an award-winning author and journalist who has used history to reveal the lingering effects of past iniquities on the present. In his talk he focused on the changes in perceptions of historical events over time. He responded to questions from members of the audience.
“Adventures in Public History” was the keynote address of the 2010 annual meeting of the National Council on Public History, meeting simultaneously with the American Society for Environmental History at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower. This public plenary session was held in the Pavilion Room on Friday, March 12, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. PT.
