At the Iowa School for the Deaf, Rep. Gephardt spoke about the rights and empowerment of people with disabilities. He criticized President Bush’s record on issues relevant to people with disabilities. He condemned a number of the president’s judicial appointments, singling out the nomination of Judge Jeffrey Sutton. Rep. Gephardt also talked about several other issues, including health care, the economy, and unemployment. He did not take questions. The woman standing on Rep. Gephardt’s right provided sign language interpretation, but was not visible onscreen during large portions of the event. close
