This was a conference held on the issue of how the government should deal with the possibility of presidential disability. The panel members discussed methods in which the 25th admendment can be strengthened. Birch Bayh recommended the following: the holding of a national dialogue to ascertain that all concerned understand the provisions of that amendment; a greater role for the president’s physician; and alterations in the National Sucession Act. close
