President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton spoke to State Department personnel about their mission and U.S. diplomatic policy. They also introduced envoys for missions in the Middle and Near East. Former Senator George Mitchell was named as a U.S. envoy for Middle East Peace and Richard Holbrooke was named as an envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
