NASA officials talked about the delay in the launch Space Shuttle Atlantis which was scheduled to occurred on Sunday, August 27 at 4:30 p.m. EDT. NASA delayed the planned launch of the space shuttle for 24 hours to assess possible damage from a lightning strike on the ship’s Florida launch pad the previous day. A lightning bolt struck a thick wire at the top of the shuttle’s seaside launch pad at about 2 p.m. EDT on Friday. The next launch attempt would be Monday, August 28, 2006 at 3:04 p.m. EDT.
