The former co-chairs of the presidential deficit reduction commission, Alan Simpson and Erskine Bowles, held a news conference on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, created in the recently-passed debt ceiling bill. They said Congress should go beyond the $1.5 trillion called for in the bill.
