Defense Secretary William Perry, accompanied by Congressman Donald Payne, arrived at Andrews Air Force Base, outside of Washington. The two were part of a U.S. Team that visited refugee camps in Zaire, where tens of thousands Rwandans have fled violence in their homeland. Secretary Perry also met with officials in Zaire and surrounding nations to discuss the refugee problem and United Nations relief efforts. He told reporters about the international relief effort and the effect it might have on those driven from their homes in central Africa. close
