As part of a symposium called “The Separation of News and Business,” panel members discussed whether editorial decisions are now biased by financial reasons. Arguments presented in favor of this included the use of racial issues by the press to bolster sales, and the fact that occasionally news stories require approval from business offices prior to publication. After their prepared remarks, the panelists took questions from the audience. close
