European Parliament members spoke out about the situation in Syria and the six-point peace plan set out by U-N envoy Kofi Annan. E-U High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton opened up the debate with brief remarks and told members that lawmakers were working on a new set of sanctions against Syria. Members voted in February to impose sanctions, which include travel bans, weapons embargo, and restrictions on banking and financial services. close
