In the final day of testimony by Admiral John Poindexter, many committee members criticized him for secrecy and for keeping important decisions from the president. In his closing statement, Rep. Hamilton added that President Reagan must take responsibility for the decision-making environment that was created in the White House. Poindexter concluded by stating “I leave this hearing with my head held high that I have done my very best to promote the long term national security interests of the United States.” close
