Karl Zinsmeister talked about his book, Dawn Over Baghdad: How the U.S. Military is Using Bullets and Ballots to Remake Iraq, published by Encounter Books. Mr. Zinsmeister described the role the U.S. military is playing in rebuilding Iraq. He argued that the media is not presenting the total picture of what is happening in that country, focusing on only negative stories. The fact that soldiers are successfully helping to create a new society for Iraqis, he says, is being overshadowed by a small minority of extremists who attract all the attention. Mr. Zinsmeister’s talk is accompanied by a slide presentation. He also answered audience members' questions. close
